Mac 'Painterly' Paint Pot

Availability: Permanent Collection. Available at Mac Counters or on their website.
Price: £13.50
Description: A highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. The next generation of a popular Mac formula. Paint Pots maintain all the intense traits of it's inspiration. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with Mac shadows or liners. Available in satin, cream, frost and pearl formulas.

After watching numerous videos on Youtube, featuring Mac Paint Pots I decided I needed to pick one up to see what the fuss was all about. I originally wanted 'Bare Study', described as a 'soft beige, with gold pearl' but found it to be far too shimmery for an everyday natural look so settled on Painterly, a 'nude beige'. For £13.50 you get 5 grams of product, which may not sound like a lot but a little goes a long way and after a months use I've barely made a dent. The packaging is sleek, compact and sturdy - ideal for anyone like me who manages to smash 9/10 products I chuck in my make-up bag!
Why I love it? The paint pot warms up on contact so it's incredibly easy to smooth the cream over your eyelid, blending well but once set - they don't budge! If you mess up your mascara you can apply more and blend away mistakes, it gives your eyes a wide awake, natural look while concealing veining on your eyelids and evening the skin tone and it's an ideal base for eye shadows, ensuring you're crease-free all day, shadows stay put and colours are intensified.
Only downside? If I apply too much, it causes slight creasing but this can still be blended away easily.
Simple, everday look using 'Painterly' to even out the colour of the eyelid and lighten up the whole area, leaving you with a more wide awake polished appearance.

  18. I spent ages trying to decide whether to purchase this or the prep & prime primer. I was disappointed by the primer, but I've heard many good things about the painterly pot so I will oblige to purchase next time I'm in town!
I'm also trying to choose between two other eye primers: too-faced or urban decay?xx

  19. @cbsg5861 - I wish these were my real lashes, haha - the name of the mascara and the falsies I was wearing are in the blog post :) x

@Stephybabes - The paint pots are definitely worth the money :). I haven't tried either I'm afraid, I don't regularly use eyeshadow so only really need Mac Painterly which doubles up as a primer and a cream shadow for me. :) I've heard good things about Urban Decay though! x
