Sue Moxley Matte Foundation

Price: £12.00
Amount: 30ml
Shade: Medium

Where to start..

When I was 18 I completely swore by Sue Moxley's Sheer Foundation, it concealed everything I needed it to with medium but buildable coverage and had a slightly dewy finish. For a lower end foundation it is a little pricey at £12 but completely worth the money. Like all things good I went to repurchase and found Superdrug had removed the stand and none of the products were available online. I was completely gutted so you can imagine my excitement when I went on a little shopping trip to Ipswich and found a Sue Moxley stand.

Annoyingly the foundation I wanted was sold out so I quickly grabbed the matte version and paid thinking it would be just as amazing as the original but better at oil control.

Wrong.

At first it looked promising, when I squeezed the product out it was a slightly thick mousse consistency which I like because it's easy and quick to apply. The colour was a good match, no orange hue. It doesn't have any scent, it has simple, sturdy packaging that you could pop in your bag or travel with.

Then it came to application.. As soon as you attempt to rub the foundation into your skin it completely disappears, there is no coverage whatsoever. The more you rub, the more it vanishes. It almost felt like a primer because it had a horrible greasy, silicone feel to it so there would be no chance of anyone with oily skin being able to wear this.

I honestly have nothing good to say about this. I am so completely disappointed. I rarely ever discard products, usually they'll get chucked aside and used on the rare occasion but this is going straight in the bin!

Which foundation has disappointed you the most?

4 beauty obsessed ladies have an opinion...:

  1. Matte foundation seems to be hit and miss for me. I'm sorry that one didn't work for you. Maybe Rimmel's Matte foundation would work for you; it's one of my faves for a lower end matte foundation.

  2. Aw no that's such a shame! I hate buying things and being all excited to find that they're absolutely awful :( It happens to me with nude lipsticks, strangely... Almost every one I've bought I can't use because they look far too orange or concealer-ey on me :( xo

  3. @Leslie - Me too, they're either brilliant or terrible. I'll have a look at the Rimmel Stay Matte :) I hate having oily skin! x

@Katie Marie - Same story with me, I love nude lips but everyone I buy is too peach, orange, drying, concealeresque, brown toned.. the search continues! Nicest one I've found is Gosh's Darling x

  4. Ooh I've looked at that and then put it back thinking it could be another waste :( I might have aother look tomorrow, thank you! I'm going to MAC anyway so I'll ask them to find me one that isn't too orange... I think it might be because my lips are quite dark pink/red. xo
