On a recent shopping trip I picked up a lipstick from the BeautyUK line in the shade 'Snob' - a mauve pink. I do have to say under the shop lighting it did look a bit more muted and pale, it's definitely a bit darker and has a stronger lilac undertone than I expected and on reflection isn't really 'me'. The packaging is pretty minimalistic and dare I say it - cheap looking, however it's creamy, applies smoothly to the lips and has good pigmentation. I did find it to be quite drying after an hour or two and another thing that I'm not a fan of is the strong menthol scent, I can slightly understand the smell in plumping products but not your everyday basic lipstick.
Overall it's not terrible for £3.49 but I find the Collection 2000 lipsticks considerably better quality and less expensive, at just £2.99. I do have to say I'm 99% sure BeautyUK have raised their prices recently, I don't really understand why although I did swatch a few powder products and they seemed better quality than I remembered.
To Try: Their blushers, especially if you're looking for a dolly pink.
To Miss: Their lipsticks.

Looks really pigmented and creamy. Would like to try some of the other colours!
ReplyDeleteI have this as well! hate the smell it's so weird, but I find this lipstick looks sooo much nicer if you put the gloss on top that comes in the little pull off plastic bit in the bottom xxx
ReplyDelete@Elise Lauren - I think a few of their others have a slightly glossy finish so they might be more moisturising :) xx
ReplyDelete@Sophie - Ahhh! How did I not know the bottom pulled off, I thought that was just to show off the colour haha x
I actually really like this colour on you. about 95% of my lipstick are MAC and I struggle to tear myself away. I find all drugstore lipsticks are far too drying but I have come across some lovely shades from Rimmel and Revlon. xx
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't think I'll be getting one of these - thanks so much for the swatches!
ReplyDeletePretty colour, but I think I'll try a Collection 2000 lipstick x
ReplyDeleteI've never tried anything by beauty uk and i dont really think I'll start! i love collection 2000 though - especially the concealer! :) x
